Travel to Taiwan
Taiwan Short Term Mission Trip 2026! After a snowy drive to O’hare, we are boarded and about ready to begin our 15 hr flight to Taiwan. We are excited to be partnering once again with the Spencer’s and New Blessings Church!
We arrived safely in Taiwan and plan to push through the jet leg by doing some sightseeing for the rest of the day.
Saturday and Sunday
Saturday began with a tour of the neighborhood within Sanchong where New Blessings Church is located, including a temple right around the corner. Our missionary, Kalan, led the team in a time of training which included “survival” Chinese and the history of Taiwan. For lunch, the we divided up and were welcomed into the homes of various church members, followed by an afternoon of fellowship together. In the evening, the team enjoyed a scenic ride up a mountain on the Maokong Gondola.
On Sunday, the team worshipped with New Blessing Church and Dave and Beth gave a great promo for the testimony that they’ll give on Thursday about marriage. After lunch Jared and Kristen led a class in parenting. Following the class, we were able to set up the two spaces for the Bible club programs this week. The day was capped off with dinner with a few people from the church to have a traditional Taiwanese winter meal of ginger duck soup. There were parts of the duck that we’ve never eaten before!
Day 1 & 2 Morning and Afternoon Clubs
Day 2 was another success! It has been great getting to know the kids better as well as those helping from New Blessings Church. In the evening, we were treated to a traditional 9 course Taiwanese dinner by a dear sweet member of the church. She shared her amazing testimony with us and we reminisced about the first team New Hope sent to Taiwan in 2018.
Day 1 is VBS was a great success! In the morning we host K-4th grade children and in the afternoon we host 5th-8th grade children. The team is working hard and enjoying getting to know the children. In the evening, we visited one of the largest temples in Taiwan and met with another church planter from a nearby town.
