Session

The Elders of New Hope, together called the “Session,” are responsible for the oversight of all of the ministries and members of the church. The elders are the spiritual shepherds of this particular congregation of God’s people. Each of the elders–recognized by the congregation as spiritually mature and called and gifted by God, and elected in three-year classes–is responsible for a care group. A  group of people which consists of eight to ten households of members and/or regular attenders of the church. The elder prays for each of these households regularly and visits at least once a year to determine the needs and concerns of the individuals therein.

The elders meet at least once each month, normally on the second Tuesday.  These meetings are dedicated to Bible study, prayer and doing the “business” of the church–overseeing the ministries of the church which are designed to accomplish Christ’s Great Commission of making disciples.
