This chapter of Leviticus covers the Day of Atonement which was to cover the many sins and defilements that the required sacrifices missed. This special inclusive sacrifice was designed to cover all of these (The MacArthur Study Bible, pg. 176, footnote 16:1-34). The notes in the MacArthur Study Bible go on to say that only those who were genuine in repentance and faith received its benefit, the forgiveness of sin. What an encouragement that is today as we repent and trust Jesus to forgive us.
